The St. Rose Ladies Society (Council of Catholic Women) is responsible for many ministries at St. Rose of Lima. Many of our ladies are involved in some of them, but not all of them.
The ladies choose where their interest lies.
* On the altar we are lectors and extraordinary ministers, we also wash and iron the purificators and the corporals used during mass. The chairman of the team that cleans the church, altar and foyer once a week is our VP. She has four teams and they clean once a month, either on a Saturday or a Friday morning.
* Many of our members are involved in Religious Education classes, the Bereavement ministry, the Burse Club.
* In the community we are involved in prison ministry, hospital visits and visits to the home bound.
* During the year we host the St. Rose Feast day celebration and the San Lorenzo Feast day celebration. We host the soup supper for the parish retreat day, and also the Holy Communion and Confirmation receptions. We provide food for the Jubilee mass and the Rite of Election mass along with other parishes in the area.
* Once a year we have a monetary drive for the homeless in the area and a food drive for children during the summer months when there is no school lunch provided for the children who are food insecure. Internationally we collect money year round for the "Water for Life" program and for "Refugee Women and Families displaced by war or climate extremes." Both of these programs are programs suggested by the Pope and created by Catholic Relief Services and handed down to us from the National Council of Catholic Women of which we are members.
If this list has not worn you out, I am sure I have forgotten some items. We meet the first Wednesday of every month, except June and July, in one of the classrooms at 10am. If this time is inconvenient for you, there are other ways you can be involved and we have ladies who keep track of us through e-mail notices.
